My biggest fear...

My biggest fear, even now, is that I will hear Jesus'

words and walk away, content to settle for less than

radical obedience to Him. ”

My latest creative endeavor!

It's one of those things that when I finished, I leaned back, sighed, and said, "It's beautiful!"
Photobucket
And I love making beautiful things. Beautiful music, beautiful photographs....I just delight in them! I used to think I didn't have any creativity, but now that I'm discovering it, I am having so much fun! =D
I bought this desk(Which actually didn't look as bad as the before picture; I forgot to take a "before" picture till I had sanded and cleaned it, hence the scratchy white look.) at a antique shop when I was searching for a writing desk a while back and it was just what I wanted. I was  delighted to find it, especially since it was in my price range! I love the drawer in the middle and the deep bottom drawers that are really the depth of two drawers with a faux front. It's just perfect. Except that I didn't really like the wood color. So, without much afore thought and really on the spur of a moment, I decided I would like to paint it the color that our room will be when we finish it. I put it on my bucket list for the summer, and this past weekend, I finally got it done! It didn't take long at all, a couple hours of prepping and priming, and two coats of paint, and I now have a desk that is not only exactly what I need, but every time I look at it I sigh and think, "Wow, I made something beautiful!" Hm....I wonder if that's how God looks at His creation. There's a thought for you to think on. =)
Do you enjoy creating beauty? What is your reaction when you create something that is beautiful? Do you think that is God's reaction to us, and, if so, what are the implications of that in your mind?

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

What is the difference??

“So what is the difference between someone who willfully indulges in sexual pleasures while ignoring the Bible on moral purity and someone who willfully indulges in the selfish pursuit of more and more material possessions while ignoring the Bible on caring for the poor? The difference is that one involves a social taboo in the church and the other involves the social norm in the church.”

Exactly 45 days...

till I go to India!!!! I'm really trying to not calculate that daily.  =) Meanwhile, you can get acquainted with the ministry we'll be helping at their website, by clicking the picture below. If you look at the pictures of the medical camps, you'll get a glimpse of what it will be like as we give glasses to children in need.( Except the picture keeps disappearing, so you can just go to goodlifeministries.in )

"When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes" - Erasmus
(Tis so true! I found a little thrift store in Maryland with a $1/bag book sale and picked up all of these[minus the two top books which were a gift from my students] for $2! Score!)

Pictures!

I've been back from Maryland a little over a week and finally have some pictures together. Rather than try to post them all on here, I added them to my site at everydayserendipity.shutterfly.comm, so you can head over there if you'd like to see them!

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
