About Me

Totally. Sold out. On Jesus. That's what I want to be. I want to be the kind of woman that when my feet hit the floor in the morning the devil goes, "Aw, man, she's up!" This is just a peek into my life as I strive to become totally abandoned to my Jesus, and learn a few things in life along the way.
Tanya Beth S
I'm a daughter and sis, nanny for two adorable little men, photographer, writer, dreamer, abolitionist, herbalist, fitness enthusiast, and orphan advocate, just to name a few things.

Random(or un-random) facts about me:
  • I'm the oldest of five, and I don't consider that a large family.
  • My favorite book is Radical: Taking Back Your Faith From the American Dream by David Platt.
  • Both of the jobs I had, before my current job as a nanny, were in Mennonite stores, one very large and one very small.
  • I want to go to India some day.
  • I live in Missouri, and it's the farthest thing from misery I've ever known.
  • I love taking pictures if I can get them to turn out how I want them to.
  • Some of my not-so-well known loves: Cafe au laite(With lots of sugar and syrup and other good things!), Jane Austen movies(never the books), Louis L'amour books(the cowgirl in me), and sandy beaches!
  • My heart beat--an excerpt from the post"My Heart Spilled":
"[So what will I do?] I will seek my Jesus. I will let Him shape me. I will let Him live through me. My life is no longer my own, I am bought with a price. Therefore, I will seek to glorify God with every breath that I take and to day by day walk in His will. I do not know what the future holds, although I have some ideas. I do know, however, that Jesus will show me each day what I should do. I will live in Jesus."

  1. I enjoyed reading your description about yourself. You said you had worked at two Mennonite owned stores. I grew up conservative Mennonite and I have relatives living in the Versailles, MO area.

Numbers 6:23-27 (I took the liberty to personalize it for you.)
23Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless Tanya Beth, saying unto her,
24The LORD bless you, and keep you:
25The LORD make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you:
26The LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.
27And they have put my name upon Tanya Beth, and I will bless her.

In the Mennonite church I grew up in the preachers spoke this Benediction from Numbers 6 over us (in German) every Sunday before the congregation was dismissed.

May God Bless you abundantly- far beyond anything you can think or imagine.

  2. Thank you for your blessing Aleta! I've never visited any of the very conservative Mennonite churches around here, but sometime I would like to! Many of the families from our community also have family or have even lived in Versailles.
